The last of the Beans

That's right my green beans are done. I picked the last of them today 2lbs.
i guess if i want beans I'll steal some from the neighbor or from the kid below.

2nd and 3rd cabbage

The 2nd and 3rd cabbage have been picked. The 2nd cabbage was 5lbs and the 3rd was 4lbs not bad but nothing like those huge heads they get in Alaska. Tomorrow night we are going to have corned beef and cabbage i can't wait.

I found this great illustration of a cabbage on the web and since i didn't have a photo of 2nd or 3rd i got this. The artist name is Susannah Blaxill and this is her website http://blaxill.com/gallery_bk5.htm

My dill has germinated they should be ready just in time for my pickles

Carrots

The last of my carrots are ready but i have planted more 2 double rows so we should have more carrots coming up in 75 days.

We have BEETS

The beets are ready now. I don't really like beets but my in laws do so i planted 2 rows of them. Glen wanted to boil them but i think that my wife wants to make Russian Borscht. I might try it. i also have yellow beets and stripe beets growing in the garden.

Oreo

Oreo is a sneaky little dog. I was picking veggies from the garden and i came inside to see if the wife was home from the "store" yet she was not. And here comes this dog licking her chops what's up little dog? She is always hungry i think maybe she smells food on me. so i gave her a bean. No problem i have 40 plants she can have all the beans she wants just not my carrots. Last year she was in the garden pull carrots out and having a feast. They were bigger then her but she ate them.

Last of the snap peas

Yes all good things come to an end. I didn't really get a lot from my peas this year but they were still good. One night that's all we had just snap peas. They were blanched a little and then they were served! It was a good meal.

7lbs of green beans

The beans are ready again,. So i picked and picked and picked 7lbs total. Why did i plant so many. I am going to give them out at school those guys are starving for food. Well i guess they eat but don't turn down free food.

My First Cabbage

My first cabbage is ready and she is coming out of the ground! It was starting to split and so i asked glen my father in law who has grown many and has eaten a few is she ready? He first said no you pick them in the fall. I asked but if it is splitting should i pick it ? yes he said so she came out. My first cabbage 5lbs so handsome i don't even want to eat her but i am going to. My wife wants to make cabbage rolls and my mother in law wants to make coleslaw. What ever is made i think it will be good.

The Last of the Spinach

It's the last of my spinach and it looks good. My mother n law likes to boil it for about 10 minutes. I have never boiled it before just steamed. She did this last night and it was very good. When we have steamed the spinach they did tasteda little bitter but not when you boil it.
